Earn a Certificate in Hospitality Management from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida is offering an exciting six-month program that combines academic coursework at the beautiful campus of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management with a paid internship at the Walt Disney WorldR Resort near Orlando, Florida. The program is designed for:
˙students who are in their last year of study in an undergraduate hospitality degree program
˙students that have already earned a Bachelor's degree (in any field) and would like focused academic training related to theme park, resort, restaurant and hotel management

Academics: Students will be able to choose four seminars from a series taught by Rosen College professorsin two eight-week blocks. Each seminar would be taught for two hours, one day per week for eight weeks (16 contact hours). Seminars would be taught back to back with a thirty-minute break between. Seminar topicscould include any of the following areas:

˙Leadership & Motivation in Hospitality
˙Restaurant Brand Management
˙Introduction to Theme Park Management
˙Information Technology & E-Commerce in Hospitality & Tourism
˙Introduction to Meeting and Event Management
˙Guest Service Management
˙Hospitality Food and Beverage Management
˙Survey of Wines of the World

Academic Training: Students are placed in entry-level positions at one of the four theme parks, two waterparks, or 15 hotels that are part of the Walt Disney WorldR Resort. The students work a minimum of 30 hours per week at a pay rate of $6.67USD - $7.17USD per hour based on role. In addition to the classes provided by the Rosen College, students are also able to participate in a wide variety of educational workshops, professional development studies, and learning activities offered at the Walt Disney WorldR Resort to supplement their Accommodations: Students live in fully-furnished two- to four-bedroom apartments with 24-hour security located near the Walt Disney WorldR Resort property. A bus system provides students with transportation to work, school, and social activities. An "Accommodation Charge" that covers rent, utilities, high-speed internet, local phone service, cable television, and transportation is payroll-deducted from the students' weekly paycheck.

This charge ranges from $71-90/week, depending on size of apartment and number of roommates.
